 WINDWORK

Empowering Rapid Aerodynamic Innovation

THE TECHNOLOGY

01 / EQUIPMENT

This system can be tailored to interface with most cardio equipment. Plug and play to create a wind speed that matches or offsets from the equipment's speed.

02 / COANDA VANES

Wind Work equipment takes advantage of a fluid property known as the coanda effect. By using this physics phenomena, we are able to draw  in air from the room without substantially disturbing it therefore maintaining a smooth airflow across the test subject.

03 / AIRSTREAM

Wind Work equipment fits in most test lab sized rooms. Assemble in a few steps and disassemble with ease to use the space for other testing needs. To create a smooth air stream, this equipment only requires a room size similar to the graphic below.

04 / EASE

Match the speed of a treadmill, bike, or similar equipment, program in a fixed speed, adjust the speed on the fly, or even run a speed profile, all with a user friendly graphical interface.

OUR STORY

A bold request of optimally laminar airflow in a room not much larger than the test zone provoked the birth of Wind Work. The real question was, how close to laminar flow can one get with the physics we know and are feasibly able to harness? Considering all the equipment had to be internal to the room, and had to be easy to dis-assemble, we were able to craft up our first product.

OUR VISION

The expense and difficulty of performing the iterations necessary through a professional wind tunnel test at a large wind tunnel can be outrageous, but does it have to be? Similar to 3D printing a prototype of a consumer product to learn what one can about it before the final "expensive" material is used, Wind Work is pursuing a bridge between theory and practice in aerodynamic analysis by providing a "prototype" wind experience to reduce the number of iterations needed through professional wind tunnel labs. In many cases eliminating the need for any professional wind tunnel lab tests by providing a smooth (near laminar) airflow.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

Our technology takes advantage of the coanda effect. This is a fluid phenomena where a jet of fluid at velocity along with its low pressure adheres to a surface and follows its contour. Using a curved surface curved away from the jet keeps the incoming air from mixing with the jet and expanding it, therefore drawing in more airflow.
